All the time, I hear
people refer to the indigent, saying, how if they got the "right
help" they’d be able to "make something out of themselves" and
"contribute to society." Are we so programmed by mainstream media and
by political propaganda that we cannot see that there are alternative ways to
contribute to our society?
Dr. King coined the
term creatively maladjusted; his term is reference to anyone who in spite of
social currents leads a life that allows them to contribute to diversity. Please, everyone,
understand, that our society needs people whose main contribution to society is
their eccentricity—without this we would have nothing of interest to cultivate. All creativity would
be extinguished.
Please dispense with
the narrow perspective that the economy is the only thing that needs
stimulation for our species to be successful. Thank you.
